What is your definition of leadership?
My idea of leadership is like steering a ship rather than rowing a boat. One doesn’t take the burden of doing it all but rather one only motivates the members, amasses and sifts their interests and opinions and set the direction for goal attaiinability. Of course, all of these while fulfilling your tasks as part or member of the team.
Makananu kalalam ing know-how mu keng position na tatagalan mu?
Being part of Pautakan 2007 and being active in the committee for two semesters are my best gauges of my know-how for the position.
Generally speaking, what does it take to be a competent AguLeader?
A competent AguLeader has a jolly disposition and has the capability to spread her positive aura to her fellows. She keeps her motivation even if the others lost it. She is flexible to situations and manages pressures well.
How would you prevent previous mistakes of previous Executive Councils?
Being active and hands-on to activities makes you aware of the previous shortcomings that occured. By taking note of these and learning from them is a way of preventing yourself from committing them too. The other simple way is to ask the officers themselves of their mistakes and again, learn from them..
Nanung masanting a administrative policy or practice ning outgoing Executive Council ing buri mung i-continue?
The best administrative practice that the incumbent Executive Council has done is the reignition of our connection with our alumni. If I’ll be a part of Execomm, I will do my best to maintain that relationship.
Kapilan taya i-ammend ing Consti? Anong petsa na?!
We all know that amending a constitution needs the concensus of members. To see the real concensus, members should not only vote if they are in favor of an amendment or not, they should also show their interest and effort in amending (i.e. pointing faulty or jaded provisions and suggesting ways to amend it). Execomm will then aggregate and filter these suggestions to come up with a better constitution that suits our conditions. Now, the best time to amend it is when ALL the members are physically, emotionally and intellectually ready to partake in this activity.
What trait of yours do you think will give you a harder time when it comes to handling the pressures of being in-charge?
Admittedly, I am nerbyosa and a panicky person. Sa mga crucial na events, nauunahan ako ng nerbyos. But still, I consider my forgetfulness as my greatest weakness. I can’t survive a day without a planner or my friends (yes, that includes you!) who always remind me of my supposed task or activity.
Ninung older member ing role model mu karas keng pagiging AguLeader?
I admire Ate Daph’s high spirits and vigor, Kuya Marco’s sense of considerateness, Kuya Rex’s sensibility, Ate Jen’s feisty attitude, Ate Cel’s and Ate Zen’s knack of integrating what they learned (these political theories) into their leadership and of course, my bestfriend’s assertiveness. J
In your opinion, why is the duty of ‘looking over the academic welfare of the members’ almost always being neglected?
I think it’s mainly because this is considered more as a personal responsibility rather than a communal one. Since the members are students, it is still their chief responsibility to study and perform well in classes.
Ninung members ing buri mung ma-feature kareng Pautakan questions?
I would like to include ex-members aka the alumni in Pautakan questions. Kuya Renan and Ate Rissa (kilig!), Ate Di and Kuya Joman, Ate Melissa and her ensaymadas (syempre!) would make interesting characters.
SPECIFIC PLAN OF ACTION
The Pautakan, on its 35th year, will:
...be a Dep-Ed recognized contest
An accreditation by Dep-Ed will greatly help Pautakan proceed to a higher level. More schools will participate as Pautakan will be included as one of the contests that DepEd memorandums will recommend. More sponsors will donate as our contest will be further legitimized in our society.
...be presented to the high school students as early as CEER to build the anticipation
Anticipation by the students themselves for the contest can make the event more special. All it takes to trigger this is an early-prepared, well-thought theme and a ‘kabog’ well-presented AVP.
...have a pre-lauch preparation
The need for a pre-launch preparation is inevitable. The purpose of this stage is to lessen the bulk of affairs to tend to after the event’s launching and to remove the ‘devil’ in the details. Making this as an official stage in Pautakan can help members avoid procrastination.
The following are some of the things we can do during this period:
*roster of prospect company, group or individual sponsors
I deem it necessary to hav ethis list before disseminating solicitation letters. This can help organize our connections and can also serve reference to people who are having a hard time looking for sponsors. The Educational Committee will try to provide this through research and by accepting infos and datas from the members themselves and from the alumni. The list will include the name of the company/group/individual, the addresses, the contact numbers and the contact persons (for companies and groups).
*collection of questions from the previous Pautakan
A recall of the Pautakan questions will help Aguman avoid having same questions asked in the past few Pautakans.
*inclusion of a set of Kapampangan-related questions
*1 question/ 1 week/ 1 member policy
To avoid cramming and to produce well-thought queries, the Educational Committee will launch this policy of 1 question/ 1 week /1 member policy. A Yahoo! Group will be set up that will be specifically used for the purpose of collecting the questions that will be submitted by the members weekly.
*provision of a more improved buzzer, more ‘kabog’ AVPs, more gimmicks and icebreakers and a souv prog template
These usually last-minute concerns will be done during this stage in order to come up with better outcomes.
*have an early launch
*early dissemination of solicitation letters
An earlier release of solicitation letters (a month or two) can help us get more numbers of sponsors.
*early dissemination of STS letters
An earlier release of STS letters can help schools accomodate us in their schedules. It can also help contestants be more prepared.
*a longer time for advertisement
A longer time for advertisement is a strategy that can help make the event more special.
*have an official after-affair roundup
Making this an official stage in the Pautakan season will remind the members that the job is not yet completely done. Distribution of souv prog that give thanks to sponsors increases the probability of trusting the org again. Recollecting and safekeeping of questions will also be helpful to future Pautakan events. Lastly, rallying support to our winners and helping them champion the Sanlahi conest is the perfect icing to the cake.
With regards to the academic welfare of the members:
*ensure an atmosphere that makes members aspire for greater academic achievement
For more explanation please approach me.
*weekly/monthly updates on academic contests in the university
*Encouraging our members to join different contests is a way of promoting academic welfare of the members. It is also a way of promoting the organization to other students and making it known within the university. Who knows if it may also bring financial benefit to the organization? ;)

What is your definition of leadership?
Leadership begets leadership in oneself. It starts with the simple things that one do. Leadership means taking the lead, taking the initiative, not being afraid to take risks and willing to accept consequences. Leadership doesn't take account from its root word rather from another word, service. Without it, leadership is bogus.
Makananu kalalam ing know-how mu keng position na tatagalan mu?
I have been a member of the Educ Committee for two semesters, closely working with its activities, and I can assure you that I know, if not all, most of the ins and outs of what it takes to be an Educ Chairperson. I have been present in two PAUTAKAN's as an Agu Member, and with that I know its ins and outs as well. Even semestral activities such as ACLE. If I become fortunate enough, can assure different activities to promote the educ com's ideals.I want to shave off the thought that educ is inactive during the second sem, na ang educ pang pautakan lang. I want it to be a committee that promotes academic discourse among the members, and a committee that keeps the 'Kapampangan' in the members intact.
Generally speaking, what does it take to be a competent AguLeader?
To be a competent officer in Aguman is like heading your own family. It doesn't solely rely on fulfilling your functions and tasks, you also have to take into consideration the members and their welfare. it may sound melodramatic, but to be an officer in Aguman, is like having a girlfriend. You must fulfill your duties and at the same time look after her, to strengthen your relationship and keep her satisfied.
How would you prevent previous mistakes of previous Executive Councils?
As much as possible, I should act as soon as possible. As far as I know, time is a constraint which the org tries to handle with. I would try to be as OC as I can, but in a good way. keeping the members' internal relationship is also another. As much as possible, we should have frequent bonding sessions. To prevent past mistakes, we should have an assessment of the org frequently.
Nanung masanting a administrative policy or practice ning outgoing Executive Council ing buri mung i-continue?
Alumni Relations. More Socio-Civic Activities in Pampanga. Online STS, ASLAG and Y! Groups.
Kapilan taya i-ammend ing Consti? Anong petsa na?!
Personally, I think we don’t have to amend the Constitution or have a ChuPa (Chuarter Update and Amendments) unless some members see that there are things lacking in the Consti. Some things are resolved through verbal and personal processes, and not thru written documents such as the Consti. Let's put the Consti online.
What trait of yours do you think will give you a harder time when it comes to handling the pressures of being in-charge?
I take things easy. Even if deadlines pass, it is just fine for me. In the context that I ask people to do this or that task, lenient ku masyadu.
Ninung older member ing role model mu karas keng pagiging AguLeader?
Kuya Argel. I participated in the Pautakan when he was the head (itang ating RiteMed na sponsor) and I can see that it was okay. And even during our app process, he was able to impart that 'thing' which made our batch love the org.
In your opinion, why is the duty of ‘looking over the academic welfare of the members’ almost always being neglected?
You can’t possibly help it if a member wants to spend most of his/her time in the tambayan and other org events, than studying his/her lessons to cope with his/her acads life. The question, ‘how are you doing in your academics?’, is still a taboo among most of the members. They won’t just talk about it in a snap. Maybe the immediate way that we could alleviate this situation is by gathering the class schedule data and putting them in one database, so one knows the other’s free time and class time. This way, when one knows that the other has a class on that set of time them he can say in a nice way ‘Uy diba may class ka ngayon?’, resulting to mixed emotions on the latter’s part and thus making him realize that he needs to set himself on acad mode. Maybe we could have incentives for those getting CS or US standings.
Ninung members ing buri mung ma-feature kareng Pautakan questions
When the sun shines, it doesn’t choose person A from person X, rather it disposes itself to everybody. The feeling of anticipating your name in a PAUTAKAN question churns up one’s nerves, so priceless, and that could encourage more members to attend.
SPECIFIC PLAN OF ACTION
As Educ Head, I envision the organization to continue to improve the different existing activities such as the PAUTAKAN and ACLE, and making other activities for that matter. Another is helping members maintain stable academics.
Time And Miscellaneous Appropriations Database
List of members’ class schedules and free times will be posted in a database, either online or through the directory. This will give a chance for a member to remind another member about his classes whenever the latter overlooks the time he/ she spends in the tambayan.
ABB Agu Big Bro
This will be an extension with our alumni who provide scholarships, internships, jobs and other related offers to other people. The Educ will keep you informed about our almuni’s proposals and other offerings.
Fortified at 35
For a stronger STS. If we are fortunate enough, we will ask DEPed to recognize our annual event, PAUTAKAN. This way, we can attract more schools to join, and through DEPed, we could invite more schools.
ACLE
The name implies. We will participate in ACLE despite preparations for our other different events.
RefuGEe
We will gather GE notes, and make a list of GE notes. This way members can borrow notes and other readings for their GE subjects.
BeInformed
If we will have adequate funds, we will make sure that there are newspapers in the tambayan so members to catch up with the relevant issues in our society. Hey, newspapers cost only 20 bucks. We could assign members to bring newspapers each day.
Trackback
We will keep members informed about different university happenings – class suspensions, half-days, academic calendar, registration dates and deadlines, etc. We will remind them through online ASLAG or through text brigades.
