Welcome to ASLAG ONLINE 2.0, also known as the Official UP Aguman website, our new online tambayan! *clap clap* Since the Records and Publications Committee successfully instituted ASLAG into the virtual world two years ago, the committee never stopped and has continuously sought ways to improve the features and quality of what they hope to be the best Kapampangan online hangout. Inspired by the overwhelming support of the residents and alumni, the committee has constantly pushed standards through the inventions of new gimmicks and exploration of new grounds that bring not only entertainment and updates but also has strengthen the ties between Aguman resident members and alumni both here and abroad.

AguELECTIONS 2009: Secretary

In time for the AguELECTIONS 2009, the Electoral Board is releasing comprehensive Candidate Profiles for all the nominees. This includes their Specific Plan of Action (SPOA) and a few questions prepared by the Electoral Board. The said Candidate Profiles are released in various platforms for maximum reach. This aims to aid all members in truly making an informed decision in determining the officers for the Executive Council 2009-2010.

SOME REMINDERS:
*ELECTION is on Thursday, March 12, with a Miting De Avance at 5:45pm.
*The members are expected to have read all the Candidate Profiles by then.
*PDF copies of the Candidate Profiles will be emailed in the resident mailing list, too.
*Hard copies are also available at the tambayan starting Tuesday, March 10.

*early submission of necessary documents for recognition to make it on the top of the list for interview, so we can be duly recognized by the Office of the Student Affairs immediately after the start of the academic year.
*ahead of time completion of souvenir programs such as Aslag Special editions, by planning it and delegating tasks as soon as the event is launched.
*printing of registration and score sheets, brochures, posters, certificates, teasers, tarpaulins and other necessary materials days before the actual event.
*immediate update of Aslag Online especially the News.

2. BE UPDATED, BE COOL, BE ASLAGed!
ONLINE
*we’ll make it as interesting as possible to make it worth coming back to. It’ll follow then that clicks and hits to our google ads would increase. The total amount of earnings then would be larger
*keeping up with updates and recent Agu-happenings.

5. AT REC AND PUB, WE FIND WAYS
*information dissemination is one of RnP’s primary concerns, so we’ll provide newspapers every Wednesday or other reading materials, because we value information, not only agu-related but local and international too!
*IDS (information dissemination system) – since my phone (1100) is incapable of higher functions I suggest that there will be point persons to whom I’ll send long messages, reminders and updates, then they will send it to their assigned group. This is to ensure that each member receives the text, ipopost din sa AOL or logbook or bulletin board.
*Evaluation every after activity and event. Records of which will be kept for future reference to help avoid repeating the same mistakes or deficiencies. Because we also value info of things that have went wrong.

6. SWEAT AND BLOOD
*Under my watch, I’ll make sure na “WALANG GAWANG REC AND PUB AND MASASAYANG” it disappoints me every time I see unread aslags, unposted posters and unclaimed agudirectories. Since these are products of our sweat and blood, I’ll be particular with the number of prints to avoid unnecessary discarding of publication materials.

QUESTIONS FROM THE ELECTORAL BOARD
With sufficient details, describe UP TO TWO (2) a situation/instance in the past wherein you exhibited significant, if not deep, know-how on the position you are running for.
One situation is that when I was asked to attend an executive council meeting to represent the secretary. At that situation, I was not intimidated by the fact that I’m not part of the council. I didn’t just seat passively and take down notes. I talked, suggested, and raised points that I deemed vital. I also made often clarifications since jotting down entails accuracy, and an error in a single number or letter might yield negative repercussions.
Though I was just a proxy, I partook well in the meeting. I didn’t make it a personal issue since the reason primarily why we were there was for the org. In that instance, I could say that I sufficiently represented the secretary.
Moreover, with my familiarity of the standard operating procedures of/in the committee I already have developed an eye for details. During meetings, I am able to put into consideration simple details as scratch papers for participants and pencils for the judges. Simple as they may but important for the smooth execution of tasks. With that, I think I already have adequate know-how of the position I’m running for.

Enumerate UP TO FIVE (5) concrete and feasible steps to encourage cooperation and attendance of members during GenMeets and org activities.
1. They should be given parts in GenMeets and org activities because in that way they will be coerced subtly to come since they have a portion to play. (like presentation of projects or financial reports).
2. Per committee talent presentations, this would encourage mems to come since they can’t bring their committee down, and also because of the curiosity towards what other committees would do.
3. Penalty for those who have accumulated TOO much excused and unexcused absences

1. Punctuality – Since registration is one of the tasks so kailangan talagang maaga! Maaga naman ako lagi, mintis lang sa mangilan ngilang events. :p
2. Creativity – creative juice is a must! Dapat maraming bago para di magsawa ang tao, im creative in my own way
3. Accuracy/Presence of mind – meron na ko, may pagka-OC din ako, dahil hindi pedeng mali mali ang data para di sayang ang print so dapat accurate at precise.
4. Well Organized – maraming papeles at gamit ang nakaatang sa pangagalaga ng secretary, kaya dapat organized para walang nawawala, lalo na kung score sheet!
5. Patience – mahirap mangulit for contributions at articles, I am patient, pero kung abuso na, aba

Enumerate UP TO FIVE (5) specific mini-tasks or advanced preparation that you can do during the summer vacation, to efficiently jumpstart orgwork come 1st semester
1. Sem plan para magawa na rin ung agu calendar of activities, to be guided accordingly throughout the sem and ma-sched na ung possible deadlines for publications
2. Start compiling pictures, journals and other requirements for our orgs early recognition. Syempre aanhin ang mga preparations kung di naman recognized

Given your SPOA, give UP TO FIVE (5) currently occurring problems that will most probably be the worst hindrances for you to implement or realize your SPOA. Also specify your steps to avert these hindrances
1. Contributions – it will definitely be hard to produce an output with insufficient number of articles. I will inform the contributors and committee members beforehand so there will be no excuses by the time I ask for their work
2. Excess Publications – maraming nasasayang. Make sure na hindi ma ooverestimate ang ipprint
3. Funds – I can’t produce high quality publications, colored laminated ID’s, and almost all the things written above if budget is limited. Always have a plan B! if ever the budget is not enough, we should still be able to make the best out of limited resources

Define “batch unity” and “family spirit”. When are these two concepts relevant and when are they not.
Loyalty to the batch ends when loyalty to the aguman family begins. Batch unity is relevant only in the application process. It is developed mainly to get into a much bigger batch or family and not to stick to it all throughout the stay in Aguman. Family Spirit on the other hand encompasses the whole org and the multitude of batches in it. It is more like the oneness of the org. Family spirit should be over and above batch unity. It is the binding force that keeps the org whole whilst batch unity can often lead only to factional conflicts.

“Senior members are the Atche’s ampong Koya’s keng org that we can look up to, as people, as members and as mentors.” Agree or disagree? Why? In what way/s? Explain.
Yes, because they are more experienced and have stayed in the org long enough to know how it operates and what are the pros and cons in it. We can look up to them in ways that we should value their opinion and listen to their remarks and criticisms because they most likely have encountered that same instance before. Take those as constructive criticisms and not otherwise. Looking up to them is different to succumbing to their wills. We have our own rationality to weigh arguments and not the age difference.

In what concrete and specific ways or practices do you live by our core values of truth, faith, kinship and service, as an individual person in the AguFamily. You can give UP TO TWO (2) ways per core value.
Truth – I always act parallel to what is true. If I committed a mistake, I admit it. If I can’t do it, I would say it. Like for example, na-late ako sa registration, I wont make up excuses. I don’t take truth to my side; I take my side to it.
Faith – I have faith in the org and in its members. In decision-making for example, when our head says something he knows and he is sure of it, even if I’m not in favor. I give way and rest my faith in him since I believe that he is inclined only to what he deems good for the committee
Kinship – I protect the trust given to me in the best way I know how. If someone tells that it is a secret or confidential, I would do everything in my power and reason to keep it that way. If I’m elected for this position, expect that your trust would not be put into waste.
Service – I would render the best possible service I could, even if it buys a lot of time, I’ll definitely make a room for it. I’m always willing to adjust my sched if service calls for it. Like if work is not yet done, I would stay late even if I miss the last trip home.



I see a need for a new system. I offer this system to you! A system that is purposive and organized. A system with proper delegation and motivation. A system that is consistent yet progressive. And above all, a system which is STAR!

*Specific: Lahat ng plano ay dapat pulido, pinag-isipan at binigyan ng oras nang sa ganoon, alam ng mga miyembro ng komite kung ano ang gagawin.
*Time bounded: Lahat ng plano ay dapat nakaakma sa time period na dapat masunod para maging efficient ang komite. Sumunod sa deadlines.
*Attainable: Lahat ng mga plano ay dapat may patutunguhan at madaling gawin. Sila ay hindi dapat napapako sa salita lamang,
*Rational: Lahat ng mga plano ay dapat may basehan, may saysay at may kabuluhan. Every step is a solution to a problem.

ASLAG
*Formation of ASLAG Online Team, ad hoc committe.
*Ang Blogspot ay magiging Official Website na!
*Revival of GenMeet Highlights and Agu Spotlight.
*Magrereleae ng ASLAG Newsletter sa CEER, Pautakan and Sining. Dapat walang masasayang kaya every after the event, bibilangin ang mga natirang newsletters and from there, we will project the needed quantity for the next event. Cost cutting, and it saves trees.

ANNOUNCEMENTS and TEXT BRIGADE
*Isang sikretong sistema ang ipapatupad sa committee ukol sa text brigade.
*Mas makulit at mas masaya ang text messages!
*Mas makulit din pagdating sa pagpaa-alala ng deadlines sa mga mems.

BOARD
*Scheduled maintenance of at least once a week.
*Papabilisin ang pag-gawa ng board. Makikipag-isang lakas with Socio Cultural Committee.

*Makikipagtulungan with Externals Committee sa pag-gawa ng updated Alumni Directory.

IDs
*Gagawa ng bagong IDs for mems na wala pa at nawalan ng Agu IDs.
*Ang IDs ay icocollect after events at itatatago ng committee. Pwede ring kunin ng mga graduating mems ang ID’s nila for more memorabilia.

LETTERS, POSTERS and TEASERS
*Early release of solicitation letters at STS letters to maximize time and resources.
*Teasers should be exciting and shall inform the public on the earliest time possible.

LOGBOOKS
*Kapag may sira na ang logbook, it shall be fixed. Other logbooks shall be fixed and shall be kept in one of the cabinets so mems and alumni can cherish memories.
*Start pa lang ng sem, may logbook na.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING
*Bawat miyembro ng committee ay magkakaroon ng chance na maging historian ng mga GA Meetings.
*For GA minutes, scratch papers ang gagamitin. Tapos, ire-rewrite ito sa logbook para organized.
*Ang logbook na gagamitin sa ExeCom meeting ay yung ginamit last year para hindi sayang sa resources.

ONLINE FILECASE
*An online repository of past Aslag editions, letters, posters, teasers, letterhead, logo, minutes of the meeting and templates shall be made this time and shall be maintained.

*Paghirapan ang video presentation for acquaintance and I*for Sining 2007 and to do it right on the schedule given limited resources. Deadline is a serious thing in Records and Publications Committee. And sa position na to, you have to maximize all your resources and creative juices.
*Pagsaup keng pamag gawang Apps’ Sig Sheet for the last two sems (at pinagpuyatan yun!). You see, a member should know how to help other committees. Likewise, an officer should help a co-officer. That’s synergy.

*Records and Publications Committee Chairperson should set the committee’s standards. And these, I will strive to surpass!
*Consistency. Kung ano ang level sa una, dapat i-maintain sa huli. I will strive to be a consistent Secretary. Ayaw ko namang masabihan na hanggang salita lang.
*Organizational skills, i.e. maayos a pamagtrabau, proper delegation of tasks, motivational skills, time management. Deni reng atutunan ku theoretically king Human Resource Management which I really want to apply in the committee and in the org.
*Creativity. Importante talaga ang content. And aesthetics motivate a person to look at an object and see its content. And visual creativity is what I can offer.
*Cost cutting skill is needed wherein an officer shall maximize his resources (financial, material, human) and evaluate alternatives. Maraming beses ko na ‘tong ine-exercise (hindi lang sa pagluluto) sa org work like IDs, AVP, Mutya ning Aguman, etc.

*Celphone! Hirap mag GM using my phone. Eh di makiki-insert kung walang pambili!

Batch Unity and Family Spirit are both collective action of the people involved, sharing one goal, bound by a spirit of unity. I believe na iba ang goals ng dalawa. Batch Unity is needed to pass the Application Process. Family Spirit is needed to develop the value of Kinship. A batch may be united pero it doesn’t automatically mean na there’s family spirit within it. Ang Batch Unity ay pang batch lang, wherein Family Spirit is nurtured. When it comes to the org, mapa App Process man or major events, we won’t need Batch Unity but Family Spirit. Kasi one big happy family tayo! Haha! Loyalty to our batch should end when our loyalty to the family begins.

I remembered Mama saying, “Anak, respetuhin mo si ate/kuya. Nakakatanda yan”. I agree. In Aguman, we are like an archetypal family. Ano ba ang sinasabi ni Mama?Hindi ba, “Anak, gayahin mo si ate/kuya”? But in exchange, dapat ang mga Atche’s at Koya’s will teach young mems the right thing. And they should understand younger mems. Sabi nga ni Mama sa Ate ko, “Anak, intindihin mo nga yang kapatid mo! Ikaw yung mas nakakatanda eh. “

Truth:
*During evaluation ng events, I try to be as objective as possible para objective truth yung masasabi ko.
Faith:
*I never lost hope sa kakayahan ng ExeCom. I know kaya nila given their individual differences.
*In every event, I know na kaya natin ‘to, kaya ‘to!
Kinship:
*Musta naman, busiest, most hectic sem ko at tumatambay talaga ako. I always see to it na nagpapakita ako every weekdays sa tambayan.
*Ang Aguman ay ang pamilya ko. Priority ko ang Agu. Sabi nga ng groupmates ko, “Inuuna mo na naman yang Aguman.”
Service:
*Ing mapagpuyat just to help Ate Acey do the SigSheet.
*Pagtapon ng pinagkainan ng iba. Simple lang to pero it means a lot. The tambayan is not just a place, but a home.

Announcement: AOL launches "Amanung Sisuan" section

Aslag Online, UP Aguman's official blog, was originally launched to serve as an online means of communication for the residents and most especially the Aguman alumni. It aims to update everyone (residents and alumni) of the latest events and happenings of the organization. Since its maiden set of posts in April 2007, it has evolved to somethine more -- an online "tambayan" where the Aguman brand of kinship prevails.

As the official blog of the only organization of Kapampangan students in UP Diliman, Aslag Online not only strives to stay true to its goals to serve the AguPips, but also to imbue the Kapampangan culture to all its visitors (AguPips and other Kapampangans) through its extra features. In line with this, Aslag Online is proud to launch its newest blog "add-on" located in the sidebar -- a weekly dose of Kapampangan vocabulary in "Amanung Sisuan".

Entries will include the Kapampangan word, the figure of speech, its meaning in "conversational" Kapampangan and English, and a sample sentence in Kapampangan that uses the word itself or a form of it. See the example below.

Amanung Sisuan (n) - ing amanung minuna mung ginamit manibat king ibat; |ENG| The word or language you have used ever since; Mother tongue. Example: Kapampangan ing kakung amanung sisuan.

Something Online This Way Comes

WHAT
As written in our organization’s constitution, Aslag is the UP Aguman’s official newsletter. And just like any other organization’s newsletter, Aslag exists with the important purpose of informing and documenting. But just like the very organization it serves, Aslag has continually evolved, adapting to each change in the environment in which the organization thrives on. It has now become more than just a newsletter, by and for the members.

In its almost 35 years of triumphant existence, the UP Aguman went through harder times. The Aslag was no exception. There were times when, unfortunately, our official publication was not getting the attention and concern that it rightfully deserves. Rightly so, some major changes were in order.

WHO
Constitutionally, the Records and the Publication Committee are in-charge of the publication. But the said committee is not the sole entity behind the Aslag’s success story today. The secretary and the editorial team he or she institutes may be the people doing all the legwork, but in actuality, it’s the members who contribute one way or another that’s what has kept Aslag alive and flourishing – members who sacrifice extra time to share their creative talent, and the members who fittingly appreciate the work.

WHERE
From a simple two-sheet newsletter, the Aslag was re-launched into a mini-magazine. Aside from the usual comprehensive documentation of the organization’s many events, no matter how big or small, it featured more creative work than the usual for the members to enjoy. From the serious editorials and officers’ columns, to the more wacky horoscopes, entertaining member awards and logbook best-of compilations, the major creative changes were well-received.

And now, in a desire for greater efficiency and longevity and adapting to the changing times and technology, from a mini-magazine, it has become a blog. It is yet another major change that has ushered in a lot more creative venues not only for the residents, but also for the alumni who terribly miss the organization that they have once (and still does, actually) considered their family during their stay in the university.

The Aslag may have progressed to a different form, but it has stayed true to its ultimate purpose of keeping the AguPips in the know.

WHY
The legacy that the UP Aguman continues to enhance will be for naught in the future if nobody will remember it. It is the Aslag’s very mission to make sure that all the worthwhile projects, the hard work, the wonderful experience, the lessons learned and the spirit of camaraderie will be preserved in history for the future generations of AguMembers to appreciate and learn from.

In its current online version, the Aslag reaches out to its dependable network of alumni who are scattered around the country and the world. Knowing that constant communication between the residents and the alumni is vital for professional, organizational and kinship reasons, it has transformed into a medium that can easily and conveniently be accessible to everyone.

The Aslag has also become a perfect venue to showcase the personalities and creative talent of the members. All the members have to do is take advantage of the chance and contribute. Not only are we able to know what our fellow members are capable of, but also, we get to know them a whole lot better with the many features we have of each other.

The Aslag has turned out to be a vibrant extension of our homey tambayan in the campus. While our physical tambayan serves as a venue where we can bond and enjoy each other’s company, the Aslag achieves the same function, albeit in virtual form – and not only for the members to enjoy, but also for the alumni. The physical and geographical constraints that prevents us from keeping the spirit of kinship alive has now been given a brilliant solution.

HOW
Like our organization, the Aslag has come a long way, undergoing many changes to be of better service to all concerned. Who would've thought that it will become this updated, accessible and interactive?

They say that technology develops with the changing needs of mankind. Which one causes the other is another story. But having said this, who knows what other better suited form the Aslag will transform into someday?

The future of Aslag may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure – without continuous efforts by the members to maintain it, the Aslag will not be successful

For now, let us celebrate the success of our efforts for Aslag the past year. With the constant improvements that we make in the blog, we have kept the residents and alumni connected to each other. Forever in the UP Aguman, we all still belong.

“I want to be able to do things that have never been done before.”

I boldly wrote this in my first ever article as an Aguman officer. I wrote this early into my term, so naturally, my statement was teeming of hope and idealism.

But as we celebrate Aslag Online’s successful first year today, I can truly proudly say, I have helped built a legacy I can be proud of.

The Aslag, since its mini-magazine format to its online version today, has always held a special part in my Aguman heart. Not that I am counting, but I have voluntarily and happily sacrificed hours and hours and pays careful attention to every detail just to make sure that I can deliver an issue that will be enjoyed by the members. Eku akalingwan ing experience ku in publishing my first issue of Aslag. Metudtud ku keng tabla ning 34G na alang ulunan, ulas o sapin (eku pa kanita makatuknang karin) para mu ayari ke, haha! But it was all worth it. The feedback and warm reception that was produced by my editorial team’s hard work paid off.

I may never get another chance to allow me to thanks you all:
To all the AguPips (members and alumni) who contributed articles, artworks and/or agreed to be featured in the Aslag (paper and online version), thank you very much for sharing your time and talent and for letting us know you a lot better.

To all who constantly visit, tag and comment, thanks for the appreciation and patronage. Keep doing so, for it is what will always inspire the Aslag Online Team.

To all the silent lurkers, thank you still. Pamparami rin ng hits, haha! Joke mu. But seriously, paramdam naman kayo, the more the merrier! We will be more than happy to welcome you to our online tambayan.

To the new Aslag Online Team, good luck! Love your job, it’s what kept me doing this all these years. Think of how much the members, especially the alumni, rely on this blog just to be connected to Aguman. Elamu bubulad, pero mag-enjoy lang mumunta keni. (I should know, I’ve received messages, hehe). Lastly, I am more than happy and confident with the hands to whom I will turn over this responsibility to.

Now, I look forward to enjoying the Aslag from a reader’s point of view. I know how much hard work goes into putting it up, so I will surely appreciate it well. It was my labor of love. Let it be yours, too.

For a year now, we saw UP Aguman enter one of the portals of technological innovations. We have stepped up another level and I believe, we are not stopping there. For sure, we will be having a series of more steps to take. But before furthering to that next level, what we have to do is to strengthen the foundation of the steps that we’ve taken already. What we need, in order to do such, are not even great minds, for we already have them. What we really need are considerable pairs of hands, to do work, to manage the transpiration of the great ideas of these great minds.

What is your definition of leadership?
I believe that good leadership exudes a leader of strong character with servant attitude, excellent people skills & evident talent. A good leadership surpasses the standards.

Makananu kalalam ing know-how mu keng position na tatagalan mu?
I have been an active member of our school's newspaper during its peak. That gave me experience on publications. I had my secretarial experience when I was the secretary of the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Youth Ministry during its active time for two years.

Generally speaking, what does it take to be a competent AguLeader?
A competent Agu Leader knows how to maximize his/ her resources to come up with better outputs while meeting deadlines in the lowest cost possible. He/she doesn't need to sacrifice studies because of good planning.

How would you prevent previous mistakes of previous Executive Councils?
I personally believe that good communication is neccesary para mabawasan ang pag-aaway. Compromise will come our way.

Nanung masanting a administrative policy or practice ning outgoing Executive Council ing buri mung i-continue?
The best thing that the previous Executive Committee that had done, for me, is strengthening the bond between the residents and the alumni. Because of this, the organization had come up with better outcomes while maximizing their resources.

Kapilan taya i-ammend ing Consti? Anong petsa na?!
Ammending the constitution will take time. By summer, the Execom shall talk about the ratifications. By the first months of the first sem, it shall be brought up to the General Assembly for aprroval. Syempre, para di pa busy ang lahat sa Pautakan at mabigyan ng panahon yung Constitution.

What trait of yours do you think will give you a harder time when it comes to handling the pressures of being in-charge?
Being quite assertive when pressured. Lalo na kung labo labo na. Kasi I’m so nakakainis when I’m assertive. Kaya nga dapat may plan.

Ninung older member ing role model mu karas keng pagiging AguLeader?
My role model is Ate Daph. She knows how to plan her life well without sacrificing much. She has a servant's attitude and she maximizes her time and resources. Small but indeed great.

What are your plans for Aslag?
Dapat may sumunod na sa yapak ni Kuya Rex. The Records & Pub Committee should learn how to manage the online Aslag na talagang low cost incurring compared sa printed Aslag Newsletter. Also, dapat maglabas ang Agu ng literary portfolio, para naman mapagmayabang natin ang ating angking kagalingan sa pagsulat, di ba? Pwede rin tong mapakinabangan financially! Hehehe...

Patse susulat ka keng bond paper, makananu me apipante ing sulat mu?
Weh?! Hindi ako sumusulat sa bond paper na ala project and dating. Una, di maganda sulat ko. Pangalawa, I use technology for my advantage. Hello?! Bond paper na may pad paper sa likod is so like old school. Pero yeah, before, pinapatong ko yung bond paper sa pad paper para may guide ako sa pagsulat.

SPECIFIC PLAN OF ACTION

FOREVER PRESENT
Attendance
Make the committee always present, well presented, and always on the reach by being an active part of the organization. Regular committee meetings shall be organized to ensure effective work and good rapport amongst the committee members.

Logbooks
A logbook that is, not just only cluttered at the tambayan, but ready to present its self beautifully everyday by making sure that the logbook is always maintained.

Action
A committee that will always be on the go. By good organization and planning, as well as right division of task, I present a committee that is always in action.

Minutes of the meeting
A logbook for the minutes of the meeting shall be made available so that members are always updated. The logbook shall always be present in the tambayan and shall be kept in the cabinet for security

EFFICIENT SERVICE
More organized
I dream of a bonded committee that is active and is progressive. I plan to have regular committee meetings that shall be held once every two weeks at the minimum. This is so to plan events ahead of time. The Records & Publications Committee shall be well organized and shall always know what to do.

On time
During the organization's activities (such as CEER, Pautakan, Sining, Acquaintance Party, Gen Meets), the Records & Publications Committee shall always be “on time”. “On time” means five minutes ahead of cal time. During major events, the committee shall be present thirty minutes before call time. This is for other schools to have a good impression on how professional and disciplined the organization is.

PRESERVATION
Nostalgia
Old log books shall be mended and kept, so in the future Mibalik Tmabayan's and events of the same nature, alumni and memebrs could cherish and relive the past.

Agu Board
The Agu Board shall be maintained everyday and shall be fixed, if needed, at least once a week. The Agu Board represents the organization and we do not want students, teachers and other organizations to think hoe unruly we are, do we?

SURPASS STANDARDS
Yes to better outputs
Creativity is advantageous, specifically on the part of the Records & Publications Committee. Because of this, the committee and the organization can have better outputs, better communication letters that shall be on time and more presentable.

Active Imagination
Creativity does not only include how well we use our hands and how well we are artfully talented, but also how we look for the best alternative. This is where flexibility comes in. With creativity and flexibility combined, I intend to lead a committee that is totally creative, resourceful and ingenious by holding committee meetings, planning events, making and evaluation options, and choosing what is best for the organization.

No to higher cost
In choosing for better alternatives, lower expenses are considered. To do this, evaluation of alternatives and improvisation shall be implemented.

Projects:
Aslag Online
The Aslag Online Team will need man power in the coming days as Mr. Rex Dizon ill graduate anytime soon. The AOL needs future moderators. I intend that the Records & Pub Committee be empowered on the Aslag Online. Ergo, the committee will be prepared for the said predicament once it is encountered.

Literary Folio
I plan to release a special Aguman Literary Folio within the first two moths of the second semester before the Christmas break. This will replace the Aslag Newsletter. Also, this is for the preparation of the upcoming UP Aguman's 35^th Annniversary. This shall be the major project of the Records & Pub Committee for the incoming school year.

Agu Board
I aim to have a planned and concrete design of the Agu Board which shall be by semester. The Agu Board shall also be mended at least once a week and maintained daily. Updates on the Agu Pic of the Week shall be on a weekly basis while birthday list and calendar shall be updated monthly, specifically on the last week of the outgoing month.

Agu Directory
By the first month of the first semester, the directory shall be released.

What is your definition of leadership?
Leadership is not just the showing of the way, it is the paving of the way. You see, there is a difference between making people see the path they must take and making the path for them. Madalas pa pin, a leader must become the path, by doing so, that individual doesn’t just become a leader, but a servant-leader. This oxymoron which generally tells us that a leader must lead so as to serve and not to be recognized is the best definition of leadership.

Makananu kalalam ing know-how mu keng position na tatagalan mu?
I WILL have a deeper know-how of the position I am nominated for. That’s for sure. The acquisition of the needed know-how requires a shorter time than the development of the necessary leadership. Feeling ku naman medevelop ne kaku ing sense na pagiging leader. Asabi ku kanta na, I don’t like responsibilities, but let me correct myself by saying, I was afraid to handle them. Eh eganagana naman tatakut ‘di ba? But, what’s important is, I realized that I don’t need, at all, to be afraid.

Generally speaking, what does it take to be a competent AguLeader?
A competent leader must be a worker. Let other people see this leader work so that they may follow him/her and that they may realize their responsibilities. More so, a competent leader must be reasonably strict. He/she must give reasonable commands with an ample air of authority and a great sense of responsibility. Aliwa itang manutus ka dahil ‘leader’ ka at matamad ka. As much as possible you do things that you can do. If the necessity arises, then why not ask for a favor first? Pag ala talaga, then impose the command given the requirement mentioned earlier.

How would you prevent previous mistakes of previous Executive Councils?
The Executive Council should represent a solid force. Thus, disputes, though not inevitable, should be resolved as quickly as possible. Besides, a leader should know how to unload a certain amount of pride every now and then. Kung atin ka talagang malasakit king org, gawin mu ngan ban mayari la reng issues, kasi emu naman burin a madame ing buong org dahil keng childishness.

Nanung masanting a administrative policy or practice ning outgoing Executive Council ing buri mung i-continue?
The rekindling of the weak connection the residents had with the alumni. In fairness, this academic year, we really felt the presence of our alumni, as in masikan!

Kapilan taya i-amend ing Consti? Anong petsa na?!
Honestly, this year, first and foremost, I have no idea of why the consti has to be amended. That’s why I didn’t not feel the urgency of the constitution being amended. For me, it is must not be a matter of time but of accuracy. Sa palage ku asagut ke mu ini pag (given a chance) apisabyan ne.

What trait of yours do you think will give you a harder time when it comes to handling the pressures of being in-charge?
My patience, unfortunately, is not as long as how I want it to be. Siguru pin pakanta ku talga. Pero ali naman pakanta kagrabe. Tsaka, I’ve learned to control myself every now and then na susumpungan ku.

Daphne for her dedication, rationality and soft-but-always-present-authority. Way to go Daph!

What are your plans for Aslag?
For the Aslag (online/printed), I plan of making the staff (once it is formulated) more active and on hand. Kasi, bala mu ali man metatag ing Aslag staff eh. Whether we like it or not, Kuya Rex will be letting go of the Aslag, particularly the online edition. Therefore, so as not to bring it back to its dark ages, mas masanting kung ating sapu and this time, ali mu metung tau, but a team.

Patse susulat ka keng bond paper, makananu me apipante ing sulat mu?
Kapag susulat ku keng bond paper ipatung ke king ruled paper (e.g. yellow pad) ban pante ku sulat. The ruled paper somehow represents the lots of help I’ll need to make just and balanced eklavu.
SPECIFIC PLAN OF ACTION

I came up with the following after a thorough thinking of the things I have and can do. But it doesn’t really start here.
WE can reshuffle all these letters and come up with more ideas of things we have and can do. That my friend, is from where we will really start.

QUANTITY=QUALITY
*We have to recognize that the creativity, though of almost the same importance, must be secondary to the pool of information the bulletin board must contain and thus the space must be utilized. Nanu mo nung masanting ya pero ala nemang laman?
*Its maintenance must be regularly observed so as not for it to be one of the Tambayan’s sources of trash, moreover, so as not make it seem as one big trash. Also, so as to prevent damages just as what happened to our poor benches. The bulletin board has been there for a while, and we definitely don’t want to see it going.

WE WANT TO SEE MORE
*The org’s logbook must be maintained and be kept safely given its importance as a medium of exchange between members of the org, as a mean of voicing out and as a medium of entertainment. Aliwa itang mangalasug ya. The logbook has become of great significance to the org, tipung pag alang logbook, pile ya ing Aguman.
*Thus, as the custodian of the org’s files and records, the cabinet (or other equipments that may be available in the future upon consideration, at kapag mika-funds) must be kept in a systematic and orderly manner.
*An online repository of files will be created. Used and produced files and records throughout the academic year (e.g., minutes, STS letters, sponsorships, documentations) will be stored here and will be available upon any member’s request and/or ExeCoun’s consent. Ban pag yari ne ing term na ning ExeCoun, pwede neng i-turn over king next ExeCoun – tipung Book of Secrets. Through this, we truly preserve Aguman history, and every now and then, pwede tayang balikan ing history ning Aguman.
*A separate logbook must be provided for the General Assembly’s and Executive council’s minutes of the meeting.
The abovementioned must be available upon request of member and upon consent of the council, indeed, transparency. Madalas taya yang dimdam ngening milabas a USC Elections. And I think it is important as what they say.

FROM FLICKERING TO BEAMING
Online Version
The continuation and maintenance of the org’s digital haven’s good performance over the past months. In all fairness, inariba ya talaga. And we don’t want to see it going down again.
Encouragement for the members of the org and alumni alike to visit the site frequently for certain reminders as a mean of information dissemination.
The staffers of the Aslag must be more visible, more active and more involved. Dapat tayang ibalik ini. Kung abalik taya ini, mas sikan ya ing aslag.
Printed Version
Ample copies of the Aslag Printed Version must be released on the organization’s big events, namely CEER, Pautakan and Sining, with the main purpose of making the organization and its activities more known to the people of Pampanga.
The staffers of the Aslag must be more visible, more active and more involved. Dapat tayang ibalik ini. Kung abalik taya ini, mas sikan ya ing aslag.

TETETETEXT-TING-TING!
*Up-to-date and handy directories of the members must be distributed. Mas masanting kasi kung handy ya di ba? By summer, the directory must be prepared already, this time all members (even those who didn’t reaff) will be included. That way, by June atin tanang list of members.
There will be a creation of an online directory that will be available in one of the organization’s site in the internet
Information (e.g. GenMeet schedules, reminders) dissemination thru the SMS and internet will be more intense.
The events of the organization will be more publicized in Pampanga for more participants, onlookers (and the like) turnout. Madakal ya benefits ini, this will definitely help the org in many ways, to acquire funds is just one of them.

A LITTLE AMBITION IS ALWAYS GOOD
The 35^th anniversary of the organization will see the materialization of a special literary Folio. This will contain creative writings and illustrations pertinent to the organization’s solid 35 years. Gawa ku talagang paralan ban magawa ne this time.
This litfolio will aim to bring about nostalgia and a sense of history of the organization’s glorious past.

BACK TO BASICS
The time has come when in duties, which we deem basic (registration and the like) and which have been around since the birth of the organization, have to be done superbly if not perfectly. As much as possible, iwasan tana reng mangalating problemang araransan tamu kareng events, meetings, etc.

Aslag holds a special part of my Aguman life. From the very first printed issue I produced to the set-up of this Aslag blog, I always pay attention to each creative detail – ultimo extra spaces between sentences, capitalization da reng AguWords, and the correct placement of dashes and parentheses – apapansin ku!
Now that Aslag Online is celebrating its 100^th post, I am overwhelmed and touched that like the first ever printed Aslag I published, this blog is very much well-received and talked-about. Also, the purpose from which the idea of this blog originated from was successfully achieved – to update all AguPips, of all decades and places around the world.
I wish that the residents will continue maintaining this blog forever (or at least until this technology becomes obsolete, hehe!), for I am certain, we will never run out of creative minds. Sana rin atin masipag na AguPips na mag-edit keng layout with matching flash animation or animated GIFs, haha! Tsaka reng magaling mag-drawing ken, gawa nakayu mang comic artiks oh, for more innovation! Hehe!

Actually, uling enaku masyadung makapag-net ngeni, ali ke masyadu aappreciate ing Aslag Online, unlike keng forums dati. “Dugtungan kwentu”, I remember, hahaha! Well, kareng rare visits ku Aslag Online, parehu ya pa rin naman ing theme na, which is communication between mems through the net. Pero ngeni atin nang added features like Spotlight and the like. Saka pwedeng mamasa ka mung blogs, which ala pa dati, nung ala kamu talagang agawa keng oras mu. News, news and more news, about the org, the members and everything in between. Aslag Online has become every Agupip’s digital haven, an extension of the Aguman tambayan plotted in the vast domain of the world-wide-web. It is and will always be the rendezvous of the organization’s institutions and new bloods, those who have raised the bar and those who are raising the sights further, respectively. It is an interactive source of fun, nostalgia and all things Aguman, right there, right then.

Masalese ya pangagawa ing Aslag Online. Organized ya and systematic lalawen. Suggestion mu sana deng articles, title nala mu makalto tapus kapag kin-click me, lunto ya itang article, banta malinis ya lalawen ing site. Magaling la rin deng writers, maka-entertain super, lalu na itang Top 10 Most Metamorphic. Deng poll, okay la rin with all the pictures included. And lastly, ok ya ing part na pwedeng mag-comment. Overall, I'm giving it an 8.5 out of 10.

I have no doubt in my mind that Aslag Online is a cyber-portkey. It brings every alumnus who has been away for so long back to the good old UP and Aguman days. Reading the artciles and exchanges among the current members rejuvenates by bringing back memories of the fun/carefree/serious/angst-filled college days. I now find myself wanting my daily dose of AOL. Current members whom I meet for the very first time actually seem like old acquaintances. Congratulations to the AOL Team for the energy, zeal and creativity! You have undoubtedly bridged the gap.
