Aguman alumni and residents hold fellowship dinner

April 22, 2009 – UP Aguman alumni, led by its President Rene “Powie” De Guzman (Siclab 1980A), welcomed Aguman’s fresh graduates to the alumni association in a get-together at Metrowalk, Ortigas around 8:30 in the evening. He was joined by two other alumnae, namely, Melina “Meng” Tinio-Arreza (1976A) and Daphne Villanueva (Kaputul 2004A). The new graduates who attended were Acey Duarte (Bucayo 2005B), Marco Lansangan (Kaputul 2004A), Yek Santos (Kaputul 2004A) and Lorelee Sicat (Kadaya 2005A). The new resident officers were also invited to join the fellowship for their formal introduction to the alumni members and also, share plans for the incoming academic year.

Unfortunately, some of the alumni who earlier confirmed for the gathering weren’t able to make it. Nevertheless, it was definitely a fun night for those who came as the officers and alumni shared stories, future plans and experiences over food and drinks. Get-togethers like this surely bolster the kinship between Aguman residents and alumni. The night ended with goodbyes and good lucks as our graduates and the new officers face their respective new challenges ahead of them.

RecordsComm wins Aguman Mutya 2008

December 12, 2008 – For the second time, AguPips gathered at a function room in the University Hotel dressed in formal wear for the culminating activity of the UP Aguman 35th Anniversary, the Mutya Ning Aguman 2008. “Wonders of the World” is this year’s theme with the six different committees assigned to six different continents.

Membership Committee – Ham Cabuso, Miss Africa
Externals Committee – Lawrence Manalo, Miss Oceania
Records & Publications Committee – Felipe Pablo IV, Miss Europe
Finance Committee – Bryan Quizon, Miss Asia
Educational Committee – Miguel Esguerra, Miss South America
Socio-Cultural Committee – Bencio David, Miss North America

LEFT: The five alumnae who graced and served as Mutya judges
RIGHT: The six 'continental beauties' during the Opening Number

The five alumnae members present served as judges for the said competition: former Aguman President Daphne-Dominique Villanueva (Kaputul 2004A), Leah Salta (Sampelut 2003A), Hazel Tobias (Kaputul 2004A), Portia Quindo (Kaputul 2004A) and the UP Aguman adviser, Michelle Fabros (Manyaman 2003B). The Externals Committee, led by Kath Gatchalian (Bucayo 2005B) and Loree Sicat (Kadaya 2005A), organized the reservations and served as the “Mutya Committee”.

There were three rounds of competition: talent, continental costume and the interview. The contestants were also judged on their overall poise and bearing. The members were also allowed to vote for their favorite contestant with each vote pegged at P1. The complete criteria for judging were: 20% each for Talent, Interview and Votes, 10% for Poise & Bearing and 30% for the Continental Costume. This year’s edition was considered by many as bigger than ever because of the more intricate and beautiful costumes, wittier interviews and more entertaining talent performances.

The Special Awards:
Miss Flawless Skin – Lawrence, Oceania
Face of the World (Miss Photogenic) – Migs, South America
World’s Choice (Most Number of Votes) – Ham, Africa, with 1157 votes
World’s Got Talent (Talent Competition winner) – Felipe, Europe, with a dance medley of Lady Marmalade and Single Ladies

The Overall Winners:

Ambassadress of Unity – Bencio, North America
3rd Wonder of the World – Bryan, Asia
2nd Wonder of the World – Ham, Africa
Mutya Ning Aguman 2008, Wonder of the World – Felipe, Europe

UP Aguman holds Acquaintance Party 2008

by pekepate

July 9, 2008 - UP Aguman held one of its most fun and anticipated activities, the Acquaintance Party. 2008 The party was mainly organized by the Membership Committee with tasks delegated to the other committees. The aim of the party was to welcome and gather Aguman members, alumni and guests like other Kapampangan students, freshmen and otherwise. The attendees flocked at Balay Kalinaw and spent three hours or so of the night together.

Daphne Villanueva (Kaputul 2004A), former President, led the UP Aguman Creed after a thanksgiving prayer. Current President Jennifer Castro gave the Opening Remarks and welcomed everyone to the Party. After the aforementioned, Mr. Bernard Afable gave a message on life as a UP student and as a member of UP Aguman.

After introducing the organization to the guests, Acey Duarte, Internals Vice-President and Membership Committee Head, initiated a name game as a means of introduction. Guests and members had to introduce themselves with an accompanying adjective that starts with the letter of their nicknames.

Everyone munched on solicited food - pansit palabok (Gloria's Fast Food), hamburgers (Bermont's) and food prepared by the committees - rice (Finance Committee), tocino (Socio-Cultural Committee), salted eggs and Mmngoes (External Committee), iced tea and bananas (Records & Publications Committee). While eating, the Executive Council members introduced their respective committees and committee members.

After the feast, the attendees laughed hard and enjoyed the two movie presentations prepared by John Carl Gozun (Baskal 2007A) and Felipe Pablo IV (Baskal 2007A), both R&P Committee members.

LEFT: Guests and members view the audio-visual presentation prepared by the Records
RIGHT: Oldest member Rex share to the guests what the UP Aguman is all about.

Because of time constraint, the attendees were able to participate in just one of the mayn games prepared by Educational Committee. Sure enough, everyone released all their energies left as they played the Exhaust Game, where the players had to enumerate answers based on a given category.

The guests did not leave empty-handed. Not only did they bring with them good memories of a great night, but also, took home tokens provided by the six committees - notepads (MemComm), bookmarks (Externals) CDs copies of the AVPs and UP Aguman brochures (Records), chocolate gold coins (FinComm), notebooks (EducComm) and ballpens (SocioComm).

The alumni who graced the Acquaintance Party 2008 were:
Daphne Villanueva, Kaputul 2004A
Hazel Tobias, Kaputul 2004A
Leah Salta, Sampelut 2003A
Argel Casupanan, Salagpi 2001A
Leslie Salunga, Ambula 2000A
Natasha Tabucal, Tuglung 1998A
Bernardo Afable, Jr, Tayid-Tayid 1997A
Gerry Pangan, Siklab 1980A

Eksenang Agu! The Villa Antonina Edition

By Binibining Bangs

Haym back! Syempre, (Pantene!) dahil katatapos lang ng isang uber sa bonggang-bonggang to the max ibang level na talaga ito na semstarter, kailangan i-share ko sa inyo ang mga kahindik-hindik at katawa-tawang pangyayari na nangyayari lamang kapag nagkaka-sama-sama ang mga members within a few square meters of each other, hehe!

You know the drill, hulaan portion na naman tayo sa mga blind items! Hala!

So he was sleeping with the rest of the boys in their room. Well, we can’t blame him din naman dahil na-hoard ng 2 other mem-boys ang 2 and only unan sa room.

Ngunit nang i-dare nila ang isa’t isa, isa lang sa kanila ang natinag at umakyat sa matarok na slide with the rest of the boys with matching ‘when was the last time you did something outrageous’ pang statement na nalalaman!

Bwahaha!

Huhu, poor, poor, lonely boy.

Da who itong mem-girl na she works hard for the money ang drama?!

Da who itong mem-boys and mem-girls na back to the 90s ang drama? Pinerform lang naman nila sa videokehan ang mga kantang that defined the boy-band and girl-band bubblegum pop era – As Long As You Love Me by the Backstreet Boys and Stop by the Spice Girls! Talk about showing your true jologs colors, haha! Take note, with matching choreo pa ang mga ate at kuya!

Da who itong mem-boy na grabe, napapa-Tagalog pala kapag namamangha? Habang nagkukwentuhan ang mga mem-boys tungkol sa glory days (or lack thereof) ng kanilang high school life, bigla na lang um-exclaim ang naturang mem-boy: “Grabe! Napacalaci ng manoc! Sobra!” Bwahaha! True enough, malaki nga naman ang manok. Pero kailangan talaga Tagalog?! Haha!

So there you go for your latest bonggang-bonggang juice from the misadventures of your favorite (and mystery) members.

Aguman welcomes the new academic year with 2 new members and a swimming SemStarter

By Amateur Pâtissier

Agyuan 2007B Final Rites & Induction
UP Aguman started the new academic year by officially inducting two new members, Carmelo Cortez and Demsen Cosio of batch Agyuan 2007B. The original date of the FR was last March, but due to some cancellation of classes towards the end of the semester, it did not push through. Their Final Rites was held in the morning of May 31 at a family farm at Dayat, Bacolor. The FR venue is owned by an uncle of member Kevin Peñalba and alumnus Mike Peñalba which was attended by 11 members and officers. Their batch Induction was also held later in the evening during the swimming semstarter at the Villa Antonina Resort at Panipuan, City of San Fernando, where more members arrived to participate in the activity.

SemStarter 2008
The incoming officers with the assistance of some former officers organized the semstarter for the new academic year 2008-2007. The food for the overnight activity were sponsored by Kevin (fried chicken), Acey (grilled bangus with tomatoes & eggplant), Cyrille (baked spaghetti), Rex (cheesecakes), Justin & Buduy (chips and other snacks), Marco & Jen (rice, grilled chicken and additional snacks drinks) and Carlo & Demsen (drinks).

Aside from the games in the swimming pool, members also brought playing cards and board games (Monopoly) to keep everyone busy in having fun the whole night. The officers also prepared a variation of the M&M Game, the same group dynamic game held in the youth camp that the officers participated in. Instead of giving out facts about oneself, the members had to enumerate facts about the member next to them. New alumni members Daph Villanueva and Cyrille Bautista grace the semstarter as well.

Indeed, the overnight Extreme Bonding Session (EBS) was a great way to jumpstart the new school year and to rekindle the bond between the members as they face new academic trials and more organization projects.

Aguman Luau Party well-attended

December 29, 2007 -- Almost 90 Aguman alumni and residents gathered for a night of reminiscing and camaraderie for the kick-off party of UP Aguman’s 35th Year at the Simple Asia Restaurant & Bar, Angeles City. The event was spearheaded by the UP Aguman Alumni Foundation, Inc led by its President, Meliza Santos-Henares. The residents also took part in the preparations by helping out in the decoration of the venue.

The alumni and resident members donned their best Hawaiian attire for the Luau-themed party. Vicky Keys (27 One 1979B) and Renan Del Rosario (Charter) were crowned the Queen and King of the Luau for having the best attire.

The Opening Remarks by Charter member Marian Santos-Nash kicked off the evening’s formal program. It was followed by the roll-call of all members starting with the residents, 2000s, 1990s, 1980s and 1970s alumni and then finally, the three Charter members present – Meliza Santos-Henares, Marian Santos-Nash and Renan Del Rosario. Most applauded in terms of their hilarious reminiscing antics were undoubtedly, the 1970s batch, led by Rosve Henson (1976B) and Kenn Ramirez (1978B).

Aside from the fun games, intermission numbers were also performed: the Dance Medley of the 1970s Batch, “Mutya Ning Aguman” Kevin Peñalba’s (Langgotsi 2006B) repeat performance of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and the impromptu stand-up act of Felipe Pablo IV (Langgotsi 2006B), who spoofed Annabelle Rama and Ruffa Gutierrez.

Past UP Aguman Presidents that were present during the Luau Party were also honored: Rosve Henson (1978-79), Rene "Powie" de Guzman (1983-84), Jose Erwin Enriquez (1989-90), Greg Bituin (1993-94), Leslie Salunga (2002-03), Joeven Rex Dizon (2003-04), Joman Laxamana (2005-06) and Celine Dagdag (2006-07). Charter member Meliza Santos-Henares was also recognized for her exemplary leadership of the UP Aguman Alumni Foundation, Inc since its inception.

UP Aguman crowns its first ever 'Mutya'

December 14, 2007 -- Serving as the 34th Anniversary Week's culminating event, the first ever Mutya Ning Aguman was held in a function room at the University Hotel. The Aguman residents came in their formal attire to cheer and support their respective committee representatives. A sumptuous dinner of baked macaroni, prawn sticks and special iced tea was enjoyed by everyone.

Inspired by the famous annual 'beauty pageant'
Miss Eng'g held during the College of Engineering Week, Mutya Ning Aguman featured AguBoys from the different Aguman committees dressing up in women's clothes.

The 5 contestants were:
*Aga Retirado (Kadaya 2005A) AKA Dolce Gabuna as Miss Earth
*Andrew Santiago (Kadaya 2005A) AKA Ma. Margarita Pirena y Lagablab as Miss Fire
*Kevin Peñalba (Langgotsi 2006B) AKA Rio Aquamarine Irrawaddy Nieves as Miss Water
*Jann Nicolas (Baskal 2007A) AKA Halle Parot as Miss Wind
*Buduy Mallari (Lakatan 2006A) AKA Rosa Acacia y Marijuana as Miss Wood

Unfortunately, the Educational Committee's representative, Jerome Ocampo, could not make it during the night's pageant due to two major exams the following day.

In just a little over than one week, the AguPips, through their respective committees, were able to showcase their teamwork, creativity and artistry as they worked to produced the attire and costumes of their committee's representatives.

There were 3 rounds of competition: Talent, Costume and Interview. The winners of the special awards were:
*Miss Photogenic - Jann Nicolas, Miss Wind (Photo featured Jann as a round girl in a boxing match)
*Flawless Skin - Jann Nicolas, Miss Wind
*Best in Costume - Kevin Pe
ñalba, Miss Water
*Best in Talent -
Kevin Peñalba, Miss Water (Performance featured a reprise of his Hindi Ako Bakla (by Michael V) number in the Langgotsi 2006B Talents Night, mashed with a remix of Rihanna's Umbrella.)
*Voter's Choice - Buduy Mallari, Miss Wood

ABOVE: Kevin gracefully poses as Miss Water during the Costume Competition.

The Top 3 finalists were Wood, Wind and Water. The final question was "What is the epitome of a UP student?" After seemingly lost for words and stumped by the question for a few moments, the eventual winner, Miss Water, eventually replied that a UP Aguman member is the perfect example of a UP student, because well, they are "perfect". Miss Wood and Miss Wind, were the 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up respectively.

RIGHT: The "Mutya Ning Aguman" winners. Buduy Mallari as Miss Wood - 1st Runner-Up, Kevin

*Gerry Pangan, Siklab 1980A
*Powie De Guzman, Siklab 1980A
*Joyce Dela Cruz, Tuglung 1998A
*Ngot Cruz, Sampelut 2003A
*Leah Salta, Sampelut 2003A

Ryan Aga, Kasaup 2002A
Celine Dagdag, Sampelut 2003A
Hazel Tobias, Kaputul 2004A
Zenicar Galban, Bucayo 2005B

The Least Metamorphic Member Contest winner was also announced during the formal dinner. Fergie Panganiban (Kadaya 2005A) won a Cerealicious gift certificate worth P150.

The whole 34th Anniversary Week celebration was made possible by the combined efforts of all the committees, headed by the Externals Committee who coordinated the various activities.

Eksenang Agu! The Questions Nights Edition

By Binibining Bangs

Well, well, well, look do we have here?! While da rest of ya are busy basking in the success of the recently-concluded Pautakan, I was busy gathering juicy details of the past week or so. Oha!

In the midst of the index cards of questions pa, bwahahaha!

But wait!

Sinetch itech tong mem-boy na tapang-tapangan ang drama at 4 in the morning? (Cue in Gwen Stefani). But no!

Tinawanan tuloy sila ng mga wheelers kasi pilit silang nagpapahatid sa "Opal Street" samantalang wala namang ganun on that side of the barrio.

This time around, nag-solo sila sa kwarto doing God knows what dahil nagkataon na umalis lahat ng mems to fetch a few things at another mem-boy's house.

Well, it's your fault! Hindi kasi kayo pumunta ng Questions Nights! Pwe! Hehe!

Top 10 reasons why it's cool to host the Questions Nights

By kingofchocolates

Forget about overnight swimming parteehs, the Unity Night, the Acquaintance Party or whatever Extreme Bonding Session (EBS) the MemComm cooks up. When it comes to the ultimate Aguman bonding, the Questions Night definitely slaughters the competition. Having hosted the famous Aguman ‘night’ which actually lasts for about a week twice in my Aguman life, I should know.

But like any other ‘famous’ Aguman activity, it has its own little share of notoriety. A month before the staging of the Pautakan, the Questions Nights venue is almost always a problem because people realize the hassle first above all the advantages of hosting such important Aguman event.

So I’ve listed down the Top 10 reasons why an AguPip should consider volunteering in hosting the Questions Nights. Who knows, maybe next year we’d have to auction the right to and honor of hosting it, haha!

1) FAMILY, MEET AGUMAN. AGUMAN, MEET FAMILY. Isn't annoying when our parents innocently but gallingly comment “Nan ya wari ing Aguman a yan, na? Pota galang frat ya yan?!” as we don our Aguman shirts on our way to an Aguman event? Ignorant of the UP culture, they’ve been on our heads ever since we were applicants, ranting on and warning us about hazing and frat wars and all that jazz. Well, with the Questions Nights, you can finally set the record straight: Aguman is an organization with a worthy cause, and not just an ordinary barkada who’s into drinking sprees or overnight serial partying. Besides, we’re just a harmless bunch of cam-whore individuals, right?

2) HAVING THE AGUPIPS OVER. Don’t you just miss the Aguman tambayan and its crowd during sembreaks? Well, the perfect solution for that longing is bringing the AguPips over your house! Duh! Imagine the mayhem and ruckus our bonding sessions can produce, haha!

3) PRIVY TO PAUTAKAN DETAILS. And the whole question-making process, for that matter. What makes the Pautakan the most prestigious quiz show in Pampanga? Remember the classic “So big, it can't fit this paper” teaser? Well, it’s our questions that set us apart – which kinda is expected since we are all from the university to beat. I guess, in a way, you’ll learn to appreciate the event more, because you’re privy to the whole preparation, and the mess that it brings with it, haha!

4) OVERNIGHT TRAVEL DETAILS. You really, really want to attend the Questions Nights, including the overnight sessions, but alas, your parents just won't let you. Well, worry no more; you won't even pay a single cent for fare to get to the venue.

5) VANDALISM IMMUNITY. Oooh, that famous Pautakan Questions Nights tradition of graffiti on skin. Sleeping is a bad idea during Questions Nights, if you don’t want to get any skin tattoos. It may not be permanent, but the thought of being the object of laughter come breakfast time is not worth the risk. But as the host, you are exempted. You can sleep without fear of defacement.

6) HOSTING SKILLS. And no, I am not referring to an emcee or presenter. Sooner or later, we’d have our own homes and we’d have our own parties and our own guests. But the thing is, you don’t have the instincts yet on how to graciously entertain guests. “Pwede pa-CR?” “Nukarin la reng basu? Minum ku sana.” By hosting the Questions Nights, you’d know what to do.

7) HOUSEHOLD CHORES SKILLS. If it were only up to you, you wouldn’t mind being nagged by your mom over your undone chores. But having friends over is a different matter. Of course, it would be too imposing for the AguPips to even let the host family members pick up after their “dirt”, haha! As the host AguPip, it is just fitting to be extra helpful in washing the dishes, the glasses, and cleaning up the kalat that we make. Besides, it was one of the conditions set by your parents, before they opened their homes for the rest of us. Besides, nothing beats a clean and orderly working space.

8) INSIDE SCOOP. A room of full of at least 10 AguPips is a recipe not just for productive work but also for intriguing gossip and hilarious antics. And since you’re practically present throughout, day and night, you’ll know everything!

9) YOU’LL KNOW WHO SNORES. Picture this: a room filled with people so tired of researching, writing, typing and making questions. And after all that, they also get tired of exchanging banter and stories, so they decide to risk it and finally get some much-needed sleep and rest. It’s a sight you’d never witness unless you attended the Questions Nights: you’ll see which among the AguPips snore their lungs out, haha!

10) IN THE SERVICE OF THE KAPAMPANGAN PEOPLE. Okay maybe, that’s a little stretch, haha! But since hosting the Questions Nights is service to the UP Aguman, by virtue of extension, it’s a service to the Kapampangan people, as well! Kidding aside, it’s one thing to welcome people in your house and entertain them for a day. But it’s another to actually let them invade your house for more than a week!

Yes, there’s a price to pay in hosting the Questions Nights. Not only is your own personal sleep and space compromised, but also that of your family’s. So all in all, it’s a noble sacrifice. But hey, it’s a learning experience, in so many levels.

If you’re still unconvinced that hosting the Questions Nights is actually a cool thing to do, look at it this way: only one AguPip gets to host an annual Pautakan tradition each year. Therefore, it’s comparable to the honor a defending champion gets when it hosts the Pautakan. Who knows, the Educ Chairperson might even let you get away with not passing your questions on time, haha!

Talkback: Mibalik-Tambayan Day

Compiled by Michael Gulapa

It was like going back home after many years of not being at the tambayan. Glad to see interaction between alumni and residents. I’m impressed with the enthusiasm of the residents. The org is in good hands. Hope the applicants will be inspired to become part of a lasting legacy. Thanks for the CD kahit hindi ko panahon ung mga kanta.
~Dan Manalo, Alumnus, 1977B

It was definitely tiring, kasi a-exhaust ku talaga reng egana-ganang stock kung icebreaker questions, haha, para mu alang dead air keng pamag-entertain tamu karela. More than the free food and the generous donation they gave us, ing peka-maka-overwhelm were the shared stories. Tsaka retang unsolicited but meaningful advices da, eku rin akalingwan ita, atsu kasi itang ‘been-there-done-that’ factor. Masanting kasi itang makipag-kwentuhan ka tas atin kang apupulut a makabuluan keng pisasabyan. At syempre, I can't help but feel prouder of my Aguman family, as if eku pa super proud as it is, haha!

Mibalik Tambayan was like coming home and going to the future all at the same time. These residents are an inspiration to me.
~Claire Navarro Espina, Alumna, 1979A

I enjoyed our get-together and had a great time. I have been getting positive feedback about the current batch of residents, so when this invitation came, I didn’t let it pass. I'm glad I met all of you. Keep up the good work for Aguman’s continuing activities and projects are our legacy to our kabalen. Regards to all.
~Noel Sanchez, Alumnus, Charter

‘Nang kasaya ing mibalik tambayan. Kasi mekapagbonding tamu kareng alumni. Pati masaya ing kwentuhan and kumustahan, pinakamasaya pa rin ing food! Haha!
~Justin Dungca, Lakatan 2006A

Kakaibang experience. Parang may kapamilya na nagbabalik bayan. Maraming preparations tapos marami ring pasalubong. Hehe! Masaya na we get to mingle with other AguPips and actually have conversations with them. Sana ganun pa rin when it’s our time to go back to UP and our beloved tambayan.
~Jean Dimabuyu, Kaputul 2004

It was nice seeing how successful the UP aguman alumni have become. As an applicant, I was inspired by them. We can reach places if we just believe in our capabilities and work hard on them.. at agyang marayu na disnan, emu pa din dapat kalingwan ing kekang penibatan, pagmaragul tamu na kapampangan tamu! :D ~Jewel dela Cruz, Applicant, Baskal 2007A

Mig-kaswelu ku keng Mibalik-Tambayan ayni. Akilala ku la deng aliwa pang alumni a megbalikbayan. Emu peyborit!
~Argel Casupanan, Alumnus, Salagpi 2001A

Makainspire. It makes you want to achieve more with life while listening to their stories and personal achievements. Mipapaisip ka talaga eh. Sasabihin mu sa sarili mo: “I want to be successful too...”
~Jowie Garcia, Kadaya 2005A

Maka-amaze ing Mibalik-Tambayan. Eku aimagine na makanta kadakal tao tambayan, biglang migka-traffic keng left wing ning AS. Kaybat meg-order la pang madakal a foods. Hehe! Makabilib la rin deng distinguished alumni ning Agu. Maka-inspire pag manakit kang successful individuals from the org you’re applying for. Masaya kasi you get the chance to meet them and have their signatures on my sigsheet.
~Diogenes Dy, Applicant, Baskal 2007A

When you think about it, tinahak nila ang daang tinatahak or tatahakin palang natin. They could serve as inspiration for all of us,, ung thought rin na nagbalik sila sa kanilang pinanggalingan proves na worth remembering talaga ing org.
~Romina Goce, Applicant, Baskal 2007A

Me-shock ku anyang kadakal alumni keng tambayan pero simap maganaka la kasi mekanikwa kami for alumni page, hehe! Tsaka galante la grabe, kaya madakal foods and drinks the whole event. ‘Mibalik Tambayan’ is a huge success for having interactions between alumni and the org with its mems and apps.
~Anjelica Herico, Applicant, Baskal 2007A

Mibalik Tambayan? Tapos madaming madami food! Para kain lang ng kain habang nagkukwentuhan! Hehe! Thanks!
~Alvin Bongcodin, Alumnus, Salagpi 2001A

Makatulang mibalik tambayan (agyang aliwa ita ing disnan kung tambayan). My short visit introduced me to fellow oldies (alumni, ikatamu ini) and the residents. It was a testament of the moving force that was and is behind our beloved org. It was a nostalgic moment. Sana mu mas marakal tamu next time. Thanks!
~Natasha Tabucal, Alumna, Tuglung 1998A

Masaya ing mibalik tambayan, afeel mu talaga ing legacy ning org. Asabi ku din na maragul ing pamilya ning Aguman at dapat na abalu tamu ing pegdaanan ning org king kabuuan, greetings to all!
~Buduy Mallari, Lakatan 2006A

Anyang sinabi ng Daph na ating Mibalik Tambayan by the alumni, I felt excited and at the same time nervous. Ali ku balu kung bakit. Anyang ikit ku la, sobrang ali ku balu nanu ing sabyan. Ing visit da inspired me to love the org more and at the same time to strive harder kasi puru la ngan successful in their respective fields. Congrats kareng alumni and residents!
~Jerome Caylao, Kadaya 2005A

Astig ing ‘Mibalik Tambayan’, ikit tamu ing lugud da reng alumni keng kekatamung organisasyun, it was nice seeing successful alumni go back to the realm where we currently are, making us wonder if someday we could reach the orbit of success where they are. That’s what I like about UP Aguman, because we get to rub elbows with people who made and still makes history. That’s why we should all be proud, dahil manalete kareng uyat tamu ing dayang Capampangan! Rock on!

The presence of the alumni gave us a sense of deep connection again with them. The support they give is overwhelming. Like Kuya Gerry (Batch 80) said “Kahit saan and location ng tambayan there is the same warmth of people”. No matter what the org looks like, as long as there is kinship there will always be the UP Aguman that we will all love. Dacal salamat kareng alumni na dinting. Keep coming back.

Alumni from all decades grace Mibalik-Tambayan Day

September 14, 2007 - The Aguman tambayan at the Odd Wing of Palma Hall was jam-packed with members, applicants and visiting alumni for the Mibalik-Tambayan Day. The alumni who graced the whole-day affair were as follows:

Meliza Santos-Henares, Charter
Noel Sanchez, Charter
Dan Manalo, 1977B
Claire Navarro-Espina, 1978B
Meng Tinio-Arreza, 1976A
Vicky Keys, 27-One 1979B
Gerry Pangan, Siklab 1980A
Martin Cruz, Sapunggul 1993A
Natasha Tabucal, Tuglung 1998A
Mennen Dicuangco, Ambula 2000A
Alvin Bongcodin, Salagpi 2001A
Argel Casupanan, Salagpi 2001A

Despite the morning downpour, it was still a great day for bonding and reminiscing as the visiting alumni shared a wide variety of fun stories during their time -- from Aguman couples back then, daring activism endeavors, on how thin they were before, to old Final Rites misadventures. Gems of wisdom about life, love and camaraderie were also happily shared by the alumni to the eager members. The members dressed the part, donning their brown Pautakan 2006 and green Sining 2007 shirts, as they introduced themselves to the alumni members one by one and updated them on the organization's present undertakings. The applicants were also present to help out in entertaining the alumni members. They were able to bravely ask for their signatures for their sigsheet's Alumni Page. There was a seemingly unlimited supply of free food and drinks, care of the visiting alumni themselves.

During the short meeting with the current officers, Claire Navarro-Espina, together with Dan Manalo, Meng Tinio and Gerry Pangan, officially turned over the generous monetary assistance by the different Aguman alumni members from all over the world to be used for debt relief and future projects.

Despite the tiring preparations and arrangements, with success and meaningful experience of the day, the alumni and members alike hope that there will be another Mibalik-Tambayan Day soon.
